She has liking & has received Taalim of many Anwat & Jod - Raagas which is the Speciality of Agra & Jaipur Gharana gayaki.

Gouri is a young Vocalist of Gwalior Gharana Gayaki.


Background and Early Years

Gouri's tryst with music began at the tender age of five. Noticing Gouri's love for music, her mother entrusted her to Mrs. Anjali Ponkshe of the Mewati Gharana under whom Gouri built her foundation for 10 years. At the age of 16, Gouri completed her Visharad under the guidance of Dr. Anjali Dani of the Kirana Gharana. Subsequently, Gouri completed her Sangeet Alankar under the guidance of Dr. Vikas Kashalkar, the renowned musicologist, performer, and maestro of the Gwalior-Jaipur-Agra Gharana. For last 22 years he has been her mentor. She continues learning nuances of Mewati Gharana Gayaki under Mrs. Manisha Shrikhande.


She has been seeking guidance for Rabindra Sangeet from Mrs. Alokonanda Roy for last five years.She has been very fortunate to learn the nuances of Thumari gayaki from non other than Padmabhushan Pt. Ajay Chakraborty for last three years.

Performances

Gouri has performed in various cities including Goa, Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Ratnagiri and Kharagpur (West Bengal) among others. She has participated in many thematic programs such as Tarana: An Aesthetic Thought, Compositions of Pt. Ramashray Jha. Anvat Raga Samay Chakra and many more.

Gouri is naturally endowed with a clear, melodious voice with the ability to sing easily in two saptaks (octaves).


Apart from classical vocal, she also presents semi-classical forms, such as Thumari, Dadra, Tappaa, and other light forms including Marathi Natya Sangeet and Bhajans.

She offers a large variety of compositors(bandishes) such as Chatarang, Trivat, Sargam Geet, Tap Khyals, and Taranas.These are composed in various Rhythms(Taals) such as Tilwada, EkTaal, Aada Choutal, Jhumra and so on.


Thanks to the "taalim" (training) under her guru, she easily meets the challenge of creating aesthetics while maintaining the pure form of the Raaga and style of her Gharana.
